Grid Tactics Command
★★★★☆ 4.3
Grid Tactics Command strips strategy down to what matters: a hex grid, a handful of unit types, fog of war, and an AI that doesn't fall over. You move, you flank, you hold choke points. Matches are short enough to finish in a sitting but deep enough to make you replay for a cleaner win.
There's a campaign with rising difficulty and a free skirmish mode where you set the map and size. All of it runs offline against the computer, so no connection is needed to get a proper game going. The AI occasionally plays it too safe, but it rarely does anything silly.
The interface is clean and the tutorials ease you in without talking down. If you like chess-adjacent thinking in small doses, this is an easy one to recommend.
